Young is in good shape however the domestic and international markets are not. In particular, regional tourism in Australia is in turbulent waters. Financial pressures, global economic crisis, airline discounting, higher unemployment and personal debt readjustment are all combining to make a ‘perfect consumer storm’.
Now is the time to change and approach the market with a new long term strategy, a renewed tourism brand and new investments in promotional channels. Through working hard with a focus on strategy and marketing, Young will be able to put a desirable proposition to potential consumers whilst the market is at a low point. NEW DL BROCHURE RACK
All partners will have a stocked DL sized flyer space on our brochure rack. It will be automatically restocked for you (i.e. a member of the team will contact you to inform you when the flyers have gone). Competitive design and printing costs can be supplied on request.
CO-OPERATIVE ADVERTISING
Advertising within major Australian daily papers, magazines and the internet are undertaken with Capital Country and Tourism NSW. Such
campaigns reach hundreds of thousands of potential customers, tempting them to visit Young and the website. Such campaigns are very
beneficial as they receive dollar for dollar funding. At such time and where appropriate, we will approach members to offer opportunities to
include tactical offers.
CONSUMER AND TRADE SHOWS
Together with Capital Country in many cases, Young participates in consumer and trade shows around the country to promote the destination. As a result of these actions, Young will engage a destination with thousands of potential prospects.
TOURISM RESEARCH
Members will have access to tourism research commissioned on behalf of Tourism Australia, Tourism NSW and Capital Country. Importantly, research will also be commissioned and conducted locally in order to establish visitor numbers, day/ overnight trips, customer spends and other important data. This information will be used to produce regular snapshots of the value and growth of tourism in Young in order to facilitate sustained investment in the sector through government and private channels.
IMAGE LIBRARY
Media and press agencies will have access to a series of professional shots. These photos will be online to download ensuring that high quality images are available at all times to best represent Young. Many of these images will also be available to members to use in marketing promotions.
NEW WEBSITE
Having undertaken a careful procurement assessment, Young will dramatically improve its online presence with a highly functional web
platform. The BookEasy system presents Young with the opportunity to provide information and sell tourism products through a modern, contemporary site that will drive increased visitor numbers. The main ‘call to action’ in all marketing promotions will be to log onto the www.visityoung.com.au website, followed by our Free Call number.
Some of the valuable benefits that your business will gain from membership through the new website will be:

As a result of this new investment it is forecasted that the site will be regularly used by not only by prospective visitors but also by the local community.
DESTINATION GUIDE
The ‘Visit Young’ brochure will be redesigned and re-launched by Dec 09/ Jan 2010 in order to integrate with the look and feel of the website. All existing advertising will be honoured and new opportunities presented. The new design will feature an integrated map with all members having a 8x3cm spot with a brief description, image, contact details and map reference. The brochure will be distributed throughout the Visitor Information Center network, at consumer and trade shows and the Young Visitor Information Center.
